Abstract :

Chimneys or stacks are very important industrial structures for emission of poisonous gases to a higher elevation such that the gases do not contaminate surrounding atmosphere. These structures are tall, slender and generally with circular cross-sections. Different construction materials, such as concrete,steel or masonry, are used to build chimneys. Steel chimneys are ideally suited for process work where a short heat-up period and low thermal capacity are required.
 

Description :

The Indian brick industry is highly unorganized with small production units clustered in rural and penny-urban areas Chimneys are very important industrial structures for emission of poisonous gases to a higher elevation such that the gases do not contaminate surrounding atmosphere. In chemical companies and other big industries they have their own designs data for the chimney and Indian standards .but bricks kiln which are mostly located in remote area they do not have any design related information. Improper design of chimney reduces draught system and dangerous smoke affects surrounding environment the purpose of this project was to design chimney having low capital cost and maximum efficiency which is help in bricks kiln.

During our project we have visited some bricks kiln nearby our city and tried to collect some real data which includes production rate of bricks, fuel used and current chimney dimension. we also did literature survey on natural draught. Then we put our effort to design chimney according to that data and finalized some factors that use full to improve data.
